American Dreams

R. While reading this essays it made me understand that the "American dream" is not just about money it's about accepting yourself for who you are. It doesn't matter how people look at you you need to accept youself before trying to change your aperrance. The real American Dream is to love yourself to be grateful for the life you have. Even though we come to this country for freedom at the end we still leave in the same slavery country we came from.

Q. As an American we need to see things differently. Racism needs to stop especially if their not affecting our life. Older people need to relax and let people live. Why can't you accept people because they preffer the same sex. If you know your not gay why worry. Or maybe  because your scared that you might be? I undertand  that your afraid your child would think that's normal and might start liking gay people but thats's just been hetosexual. You should be grateful that your child is healthy and alive. People are just stupid. So next time you judge someone because of their color or sexual taste remember that you're no one to judge, because your not perfect too.

Acting white

Q. If  someone wants to achieve a higher education and not follow the stereotype of what people believe you where born to be, is that consider hurting you're family and people. Just because you want to achieve a higher education or want to improve in life doesn't make you a traitor. It shows that you are more than what people believe you are meant to be. Everyone came to america for better lives, why should other have less opportunity than others just because of their color or because the way they look. God creates us with a brain, arms, legs, faces. The only simple difference was the color of our skin. Like they say "Don't judge a book by its cover"

R. Racist  is just not on African Americans, but in everyone. In 2015 people don't talk about peoples  color, instead we talk about the place they come from, or what part of the city they were born or race. Not only we make fun of the place they grew up, but also about the way they talk or their education. Just because you graduate from a low class high school doesn't mean your not worth for a better education. We as people need to stop comparing each other of the way we look because at the end we are the ones hurting each other.

Race Relations Light Years From Earth

Q. Even though the movie didn't mention any other people of color or this movie created so many comfits. Many believe that it insult others cultures. Even though that producer said it wasn't intentionally why did people took it to serious. I believe the producer was trying to send a message while doing this movie. I believe the best way to hide this type of messages was by creating other creatures and making us compare them with other type of people that aren't white community. Even though Avatar didn't do a good job on keeping their opinion on the low I'm glad others notice the purpose of the movie and make others open their mind and mouth. C. Many critics view the film Avatar as being yet again another “white messiah” film in which a white male is the hero of the indigenous people who are being oppressed in other words colored people. Mitu Sengupta  claims that the film is racist which i believe its true. At the beginning of the movie they send a white handsome white man to this planet named Pandora. Humans try to rule another planet that isn't theirs by been friends with the"savages" which they try to friends with them and learn more about their culture by the end taking over them. Many viewers believe this is offensive because its comparing how white people can take over without thinking of the other. Even though this movie didn't specifically mention people in color, we know that at the end they knew what they were doing.

Class and Virtue

Q. Michael Parenti says that class matters  even though others don't believe is important during Hollywood movies. If class wasn't that important then why worry about what others think. Even though many other people don't notice the purpose of why Hollywood puts different races and classes on the scream Hollywood is trying to teach others that the position your in matters no matter what. American movies are movies to inspire middle class to do better in life and not to limit themselves to a simple life. Even though sometimes Hollywood doesn't thinks that shouldn't be done at least we learn from what other believe is right, and one thing i know is that class would always be a big part of Hollywood.

C. I don't understand why Michael is impress about what Hollywood been doing all this years. I mean think about  it, nobody wants to see a poor family keep been poor and tell us about their poor life. Hollywood tries to make us see the fantasy, because honestly the reality life is the worst thing in this world.  It might sound funny but when i go watch a movie I want to see something that isn't true in life. I want to use my imagination, I believe movies are the only way I can walk away from the reality and be happy for at least 2 hrs and just think about others happiness and don't think about my life.

The Offensive Movie Cliche that won't die

Q. Matt Zoller couldn't define "Magical Negro" better than this. It’s such a cliché always seen the same characters on most movies, that sometimes you know what the actor might say or even do. Matt gave us the definition of "magical negro" a character who acts as a mentor to a questing white hero. In American culture these characters are consider to be like the "Gods" the light of the movie. It’s like having someone telling you what’s wrong or right. I believe that actors shouldn’t get offended, even though it’s a cliché all Hollywood actors are place into categories and they should accept the way their been seen.

   C. Using the president as an example made me understand how people see these types of actors in real. Even though it’s still hard for me to say “negro” on words, I understand how they feel. Theirs words that shouldn’t be said even though they don’t mean to hurt others might take it offensive. Like the tittle said it’s just a cliché and it’s something that Hollywood would always keep going on. No matter what others think I enjoy these types of movies. It always gives some great meanings to the movies and makes us learn a lesson.

The Thematic Paradigm

Q. Robert Ray states in his article that theirs two different hero's on Hollywood the outlaw hero and the official hero. Both heroes’ share the same general moral set, making sure everyone gets what it’s reasonable. Even though they express different ways of solving problems and sharing their feelings at the end we know they care about the people they helped. Ray describes two different heroes in American Cinema, then what are the other unknown hero's consider to be? Why do both heroes’ mistrust women so much on their movies, especially when they try to help the hero’s? I try to understand why sometimes we can’t find an official hero as women, but you can find an outlaw hero. People enjoy seen bad girls instead of smart girl. I believe Hollywood has created this stereotype believing that real hero's would always be men.

C. While readying article it makes me realize that we watch movies without noticing the difference. In my personal taste I enjoy seen outlaw hero's, knowing that they would always be there even if I turn 30 years old. One of my favorite movies would be "The expendables" The purpose of this movie is that they assemble all great outlaw heroes’ that have made history in their movies like Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Jet Li etc. Even though the actors are getting old, I can always go back to their old movies and appreciate great series that these legends created.

Chapter 4

The Hollywood Sign

Q. Escaping from reality hoping that someone else understands what you’re going through helps you determine a better future. Movies always inspire us getting out of our zone letting us fantasy to another dimension. Movies are like doors, they open another world but you have to remember to close it because you have to go back to the place you came from. Many viewers believe that movies aren't the best thing because its opening a lot of peoples mind to something that isn't real and that producers are waiting there time on things that aren't helping the world.

C. I believe movies are the best things men have created. Without movies my life wouldn't be this fun it is at this moment. I enjoy fantasying about my future. For others books are the open doors to another world, but for me movies our like the rhythm of life. There's always those toughs on how they could make it better or how it would be great been them. Even though it’s just fantasy it makes you feel like you’re part of someone else’s life.

Everyone Lies

Q. We watch TV shows without noticing that were been influence by them. Laurie Boloven explains  that American television shows has change over time, even though some things stay the same, there's so many things that change in the culture of television. The best example is when she compares Dr. House a tv series on 2004  and Dr. Kildcare from a TV show on 1960's. The author is trying to compare how people feelings change over time. It also shows that tv shows don't care about peoples feelings anymore and that they have to be cold to complete their job. This made me realize that people aren't the same, they don't care what other feel or think. Is been selfish the new style?

C. While reading this essay, i never though similar TV shows repeated in life. I was also pretty upset that shows aren't the same. Its sad that  they believe been selfish its the new way of judging people. We shouldn't let television influences us by there bad habits. We need to keep in mind its just television and it shouldn't affected the way we see others in our world. We humans "are liar" but that's part our nature. So why should we be judge by another human who believes its better than us.

Find yourself

"Real Beauty"
Q. If a beautiful woman is consider to be "Victoria Secret Model" then what am I consider to be? a disturbing unattractive women? Ads have always pursuit us to find anything that's wrong with our body and spend money just to perfect what society thinks is wrong. Even though Dove's New campaign is inspiring to love ourselves there's still that insecure that doesn't make us feel happy for who we are. Man's are also a huge part in our lives and even though we say we don't need their opinion, there actually the reason we want to look attractive for. So why is it hard for them to see the real us? Why keep comparing us to something we weren't meant to be.
C. There's nothing wrong on been who you are, but admit it, you don't want to be that unattractive female that no one wants to be. I believe there's nothing wrong on "fixing" some insecure parts of your body. We might not end up looking like the models we see on ads but at least we can enjoy our body's and feel more comfortable naked or wearing a nice bikini outfit on a beautiful beach day.
Hearing man's complain about the Dove's "Real Beauty" made me realize that they shouldn't be blamed. There so used to seen the "unrealistic" slim models that we barely see in our regular days. If man's consider us as an sexual attraction, why can we make them happy and see us as "beautiful people" I'm pleased that Dove's is doing something to bust up are self esteem and love us for who we are but I'm also not against "unrealistic" models. In-perfection is beauty but also remember there's nothing wrong on "fixing" some imperfections. All it matter is that you love yourself and don't pursue yourself to be someone that you'll regret in the future.

"Turn the Tv hunny"

Men's Men and Women's Woman

Q. If women's are consider to be the desire of men's why don't they put the realistic women on advertising. Advertisement is such a  stereotype creation, that makes woman look weak and sensitive while men's are the owners of a women's choice. It's scary knowing that there's people who know what we want without even asking us. While we watch a game or a soap show a perfect commercial pops out to influence us to buy something we never ever desire for. Advertisers seem to quite willing to manipulate us with fantasies and exploit our anxieties.
C. Learning that theirs 4 different commercials that judge women's and men's makes me understand why people prefer specific things and what influences them to buy. For example on "Men's Men" and "Men's Woman" both commercial shows the empire of a mans desire "A Perfect Woman" a slim, tall, attractive woman that doesn't care her status to man. While on "Women's women" and "Women's Man" it shows  how a woman wishes her man to be. One thing they do share in common is the appearance. All of four want the perfect model or the perfect man. You would never see a fat belly man do a commercial or a short, medium size woman do a commercial with an attractive man. My point is that appreciate would always be the main cause why people want things. Just because an attractive man has a fancy car a regular man would make him get a girl. Or a beautiful woman get all mans, would influence all women's to buy the product because they can get their dream guy. I believe advertising should be a little more realistic and show the actual meaning of "Women's and Men's" but then again nobody would buy things anymore.

Is it True.

 "Brought to you B(u)y"

Q. If advertising is considered to be bad influence for humanity, why are we surrounded all over the place? Television is "The New Way" to impact  Americans to a better future, a different way to see our world and to be satisfied on things we don't need, so why do we keep grumbling about our life's? Not only we complain about our jobs but also make fun of each other. It’s abhorrent how we laugh of each other miserableness to feel better for each other. At the end we desire to have superior jobs like the ones we see on television but deep inside we know that it's just a fantasy that advertising makes us believe.   C. While reading this chapter it made me realizes that people think deeper into their thoughts. For example I never believe while watching "The Office" I was creating an excuse to make fun of others miserableness. Honestly I’m not a huge fan of this show; I never had a bad experience while working at a corporate job. I believe it’s childish to make fun of each other’s gloom. I also believe television needs to stop showing things that aren't happening in real life that's why we have books to fantasy. Over this entire chapter it made me realize that not everyone thinks the same way, while we enjoy others sorrow lives, we don't think that others are going through the same thing that’s why all we can do is cheer them up hoping one day they would have a better day.
